The painting rejects a merely contemplative gaze upon nature to confront the viewer with its vulnerability: the contrast between the raw force of the earth and the scar of human intervention, the loss of pristine green, and the emergence of a landscape in transition. It is not about illustrating disaster, but about capturing the tension and impact of an ecosystem at its tipping point.
